The theme of this year’s conference is: \nImpacts and Implications of a Warming World: Urgency Within the VOAD Movement \nThe conference will explore the climatology and metrological science and data that provide insight into the increased frequency and intensity of storms and will examine how the VOAD member organizations can effectively respond to the increasing number of disasters that fail to qualify for a federal disaster declaration. \nConference Date and Location: The conference will be held from noon on April 8 to noon on April 9\, 2024\, at the Cacapon Resort State Park Lodge in Berkeley Springs\, West Virginia. \nGetting There: You can get to Berkeley Springs from several major metropolitan cities in less than a tank of gas. DESCRIPTION:First Quarter Meeting \n2023-2024 \nOur first quarterly meeting of the fiscal year will be held Monday\, September 11\, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Anne Arundel County\, Office of Emergency Management\, in Annapolis at 7480 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd in Glen Burnie\, MD 21061. \nAAC OEM is located one block in from Rt 2 (Ritchie Highway). There is free parking in the adjacent garage. The building entrance is on Baltimore–Annapolis Blvd. Please note\, when entering\, the building is secure\, so there will be someone present to let you in. If you come late\, there is a “doorbell”\, or you can text Bruce Morgenstern at 410-353-7218. \nThere is a virtual meeting option\, but we strongly encourage in-person participation if possible. This allows for interaction and networking that is not possible in a virtual setting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP & Tell Your Story\nAnne Arundel County OEM will provide lunch. Please RSVP if you plan to attend in-person and indicate special dietary needs. Your RSVP ensures the food ordered is sufficient for all attendees. \nTell Your Story – We will commemorate the anniversary of 9/11 by reviewing the ways we\, as a VOAD community\, responded to this significant event in the history of our country. We invite our member and partner organizations to “tell your story of 9/11.” Your presentation should be 5 minutes or less. We realize that “how” you responded may include actions of your national organization. \nRSVP for both lunch and an opportunity to share your 9/11 story by midday on Friday\, September 8.
