March 16-18, 2026 | Cacapon State Park, Berkeley Springs, West Virginia
The Mid-Atlantic Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (DC, DE, MD, PA, and WV) held their 2026 annual conference. Our theme was:
The Urgency of the 4C’s: The Importance of State and VOAD Relationships
This year’s Mid-Atlantic VOAD gathering, welcomed more than 90 attendees, including seven (7) students. The event brought together people from across the region to discuss and better understand topics associated with the 2026 theme – The Urgency of the 4C’s: The Importance of State and VOAD Relationships.
Attendees represented all of the Region 3 VOADs: Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, DC West Virginia and National VOAD. Participants also represented educational institutions, state and local government agencies, and many organizations that support disaster response and recovery efforts.
A special thank you to Jessica Vermilyea for facilitating the event and to Russ Strickland, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Emergency Management, for sharing valuable insights during his presentation.
We are especially grateful to our sponsors — Mennonite Disaster Service, United Church of Christ, Compass Relief, and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America — whose support helped make this event possible.
